Dr. Chandra Shekar Mootapally completed B.Sc., in Biotechnology, Microbiology & Chemistry in 2008 from Osmania University and M.Sc., in Biotechnology in 2011 from University of Madras. He completed Doctoral in Marine Biotechnology, CAS in Marine Biology, Faculty of Marine Sciences, Annamalai University in 2015. Subsequently he has been an active researcher in the Network Project on Animal Genetic Resources funded by Indian Council of Agricultural Research that lead to the publication of first of its kind monograph describing detailed Molecular Characterization of indigenous livestock of north east India including West Bengal. He has published 20+ research papers in national and international journals, 1 book and 1 book chapter besides more than 245 sequences and 5 whole genome submissions to GenBank in the field of Veterinary and Marine Science. Currently, he is actively associated with Metagenomic Analysis of Ruminal Microbes of indigenous cattle and buffalo breeds of India.

 

Area of Interest

Research areas of interest include molecular biotechnology, population genetics, wild life, genomics, metagenomics, bioinformatics and comparative functional genomics.
