Assistant Professor

biography

Dr. Jinhui Song received his B.S. degree (1998) from the School of Physics, Nankai University, China; his M.S. (2003) degree in Physics from Georgia Institute of Technology; and his Ph.D (2008) degree in School of Materials Science and Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology. He carried out his Post-Doctoral Fellowship in the same group from 2008 to 2011. He and his Ph.D advisor co-invented the nanogenerator (published in Science 14 April 2006: 242-246), which received worldwide news coverage. Following work on an ultrasonic wave driven nanogenerator (published in Science, 316 (2007) 102-105) also received considerable media attention. Since 2005, Dr. Song has received a number of awards: KAUST Global Research Partnership (GRP) Research Fellows Since 2009, the 2007 MRS Graduate Student Silver Reward, 2006 Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-financed Students Abroad, 2006 School of Materials Science and Engineering Research Initiation Award, 2005 School of Materials Science and Engineering Advanced Publication Award and Research Initiation Award. He is the author or co-author of more than 30 journal articles and 3 US patents. Till January 2014, the total citations of his paper are over 5,428 times, and the h-index is 28.
