biography

Pilar Giraldo, MD, PhD, is Associate Professor of Hematology at Miguel Servet University Hospital, head of Clinical Hematology in the Hematology Department at the university hospital, as well as Associate Researcher at Aragon Institute of Health Sciences in Zaragoza, Spain. She earned her MD and PhD in medicine from University of Zaragoza and her Master’s degrees in research methodology and molecular oncology, respectively, from the University of Public Health and Spanish National Cancer Research Center (CNIO) in Madrid. Dr. Giraldo conduct a Research Unit of the Spanish Network for Research on Rare Diseases (CIBERER) and the Director of the Spanish Gaucher Disease Foundation (FEETEG), an independent collaborative research group composed of biochemists, physicians, and epidemiologists. Her main research interests include clinical research in hematological chronic neoplasias and epidemiology of rare diseases, the molecular biology of lysosomal disorders, and translational medicine in lysosomal diseases and related malignant hematological disorders. She has published more than 90 articles in peer-review journals and five books about Gaucher disease.
