biography
Dr. Smith received her MD in clinical medicine and MS in pharmacology at Xian Medical University. She received her PhD in biochemistry and molecular biology at the Beijing Institute of Pharmacology and Toxicology, China. She pursued post-doctoral work in the laboratories of Cellular and Molecular Biology, National Institute on Aging at the NIH and Department of Psychiatry, Division of Neurobiology at Johns Hopkins.
Area of Interest
Her lab is currently directed towards understanding the molecular pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases and other disorders such as obesity.
Her molecular pharmacology and pathogenesis research places emphasis on the following areas:
• Parkinsons Disease
• Obesity
• Neuronal cell death and protein aggregation in neuropsychiatric conditions
