biography

Osamu Handa is an Assistant Professor of Department of Molecular Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine. He received his M.D. from Yamaguchi University, Japan in 1994, and obtained his Ph.D. in gastroenterology from Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine, Graduate School of Medical Science in 2003. He is an Editor of BioMed Research International, an Editorial Board Member of several journals such as Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology Research, World Journal of Gastroenterology, World Journal of Gastrointestinal Oncology, Inflammation Research, Journal of Clinical Biochemistry and Nutrition, and Biochemical Pharmacology. His research interests focus on the role of oxidative stress on the signal transduction in gastro-intestinal epithelium. He has been working on the role of oxidative stress on Helicobacter pylori-induced gastric carcinogenensis. Recently, he is exploring the role of oxidative stress on the leakiness of gastrointestinal epithelial cells.
