biography

Dr. Rosa María Martínez-Espinosa is a biologist who has used a range of disciplines to unravel nitrogen metabolism of members of the Halobacteriaceae family (Archaea Domain). Her work on the nitrogen cycle as well as the mechanisms by which haloarchaea use nitrate, nitrite and ammonium as nitrogen source or even as final electron acceptors is now showing major impacts in environmental and climate science and industrial biotechnology such as brines bioremediation. She has published >30 peer-reviewed papers that have been cited more than 200 times. Her research currently has an H-index of 8 (Web of Sciences, July 2014).
