biography

Dr. Kathiresan is widely known for his exemplary contribution to mangrove ecology. He is currently the Professor, Dean and Director of 50 year old Centre of Advanced Study in Marine Biology, Faculty of Marine Sciences of Annamalai University in India. He has practically spent most of his research and teaching career on marine ecology in particular mangroves. He has over 300 research publications, seven books and has conducted many international and national programmes related to marine ecology. He is the recipient of several national and international awards and distinctions. Dr. Kathiresan, K. is a Doctor of Science in Marine Biology, widely known for his exemplary contribution to mangrove biodiversity. He is currently the Professor and Director of 50 year old Centre of Advanced Study in Marine Biology, attached to Annamalai University in India. He has practically spent most of his research and teaching career on mangroves. He has more than 350 research publications, seven books and has conducted many international and national programmes related to marine ecology. He has guided 25 scholars for award of Ph.D., degree. He has undertaken mangrove research in 11 countries. He is the recipient of several national and international awards and distinctions.
