Professor Shiyang Pan is the chief of the Department of Laboratory Medicine in Nanjing Medical University as well as the chief of the Department of Laboratory Medicine in Jiangsu Province Hospital which is the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University. He is a member of the standing boarder of Chinese Laboratory Medicine Association, and the chairman of Jiangsu Laboratory Medicine Association. Pan has served on the editorial board for Chinese Journal of Laboratory Medicine, Chinese Journal of Clinical Physicians and Molecular Diagnosis and Therapy. And he was assigned to be the reviewer of some international journals, such as BMC Cancer and Critical Care of Medicine. He has served on review committees for NSFC and Health Administration of China.
Pan is engaged in the research on early diagnosis of cancers and infectious diseases. He has studied lung cancer over 20 years, during that time he has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed reports. He has established several proceeding and outstanding techniques of molecular diagnostics successfully. Importantly, he has found a new specific tumor maker SP70, which is a potential biomarker to be applied as a target both in diagnosis and biotherapy for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). His group has developed some monoclonal antibodies, as well as the most prominent mAb NJ001 with the highest affinity and specificity patent by both China and USA, and with which he has developed several immunological methods to be used to detect the target for clinical application
