Andrzej Lange

biography

Prof. Andrzej Lange is a professor of the Institute of Immunology and Exp Therapy, Wroclaw, Poland as well as the founder and head of the Lower Silesian Centre for Cellular Transplantation, Wrocław, Poland. He was a research fellow and lectured at several European and American universities. His pioneering work on the immunological and genetic consequences of asbestos and aromatic hydrocarbons exposure earned him international recognition/renown. He started marrow transplantation in 1987 and the institution activity cover auto- and allogeneic transplantations of hematopoietic cells in sibling and alternative donor settings. Since 2000 he is involved in the studies on marrow derived stem cells including clinical work on revascularization of ischemic organs. He was awarded several times by the Polish government agencies, national and foreign scientific societies. He published 2125 papers in peer-reviewed journals, mostly devoted to immunogenetic and clinical aspects of leukaemia treatment, including Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation
