Addiction is a disorder of the brain's reward system which emerges through transcriptional and epigenetic mechanisms and occurs over time from chronically high levels of exposure to an addictive stimulus. The origin of addiction vary considerably, and are not often fully understood. They are typically caused by a combination of physical, mental, circumstantial and emotional factors. Addiction, often referred to as dependency often leads to tolerance, addicted person needs larger and more regular amounts of whatever they are addicted to in order to receive the same effect. Often, the initial reward is no longer felt, and the addiction continues because withdrawal is so undesirable.
Addiction is Habitual psychological or physiologic dependence on a substance or practice that is beyond voluntary control. Examples of Drug and Behavioral Addictions include: alcoholism, amphetamine addiction, cocaine addiction, nicotine addiction, opiate addiction, food addiction, gambling addiction, sexual addiction. The authors must ensure that proper protocol has been followed for conducting the clinical trials and written informed consent form should be obtained from each trial subject before initiating the trial. The IRB or ethics committee approval should be obtained and proper monitoring of the trial should be ensured. All the case studies or clinical trial reports must follow guidelines for statistical analysis and reporting of trial results (SAMPL). The authors must be willing to provide the editorial board with the informed consent form and other ethical approval forms, if required.
